Concert Dedicated to the Lithuanian Jewish Genocide Day
📅 September 23, 6:00 PM
📍 Vilnius Gaon Museum of Jewish History (Naugarduko St. 10/2, Vilnius)
On September 23, in commemoration of the Lithuanian Holocaust Memorial Day, a special Vilnius Shalom Festivalconcert will be held at the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History. The evening’s program will feature works by Jewish and Lithuanian composers, including “Wagon of Shoes” by American composer of Litvak origin, Lee R. Kesselman. The piece is based on the poetry of Abraham Sutzkever, a survivor of the Vilnius Ghetto. This poetic and dramatic work portrays a symbol of the Holocaust — a wagon full of shoes — and invites deep reflection on memory and reverence.
